Dimapur, Oct. 2 (EMN): One employee of four lane construction, who reportedly fled with an amount of INR 25 lakh has been arrested from Andhra Pradesh and brought to Kohima for further investigation.
The employee was arrested against a written complaint received on May 31 last from the NH-29 construction authority to the effect that he had cheated and misappropriated construction materials to the tune of INR 25 lakhs.
A police report issued by Additional Superintendent of Police & PRO stated that police had taken up the investigation following registering a regular case at Sechü (Zubza) police station. It stated that in course of investigation, assistance was sought from the local police of Guduru Rural Police Station, Andhra Pradesh, as the native village of the accused person falls under the jurisdiction of the said police station and also engaged sources to ascertain his whereabouts.
Having received inputs from sources that he is on a visit to his village to attend the celebration of a festival, a three member team of Kohima police left for Andhra Pradesh and arrested the accused person on September 28 with the assistance of local police.
The accused was identified as Kovvuru Nagaraju, an engineer cum accountant under the four lane construction project and son of Kovvuru Venkata Subbayya of Harijanawada Vinduru village under Nellore district, Andhra Pradesh.
The accused person has been brought to Kohima for further investigation of the case, it stated.
On September 30, Kohima police special duty personnel from South Police Station recovered a total of eight cases of IMFL comprising of two cases of Kingfisher Can Beer and six cases of Mc Rum from a store located at South Point Market, Kohima, while conducting raids at suspected liquor joints.
One person identified as Khriebu Angami (29), a resident of Dzuvuru, Kohima, was arrested for possession of illegal IMFL and a regular case under the NLTP Act was registered against him for further investigation, the statement said.
In another incident, Kohima police during routine MVCP at Para Medical junction, intercepted one Hyndai 120 car bearing Registration No. DL-8C AR/5280 and recovered of IMFL on October 1.
Police team recovered eight cases of beer and four cases of Mc Rum from the occupants identified as D Khosu @ Abraham (30), son of D Dahru of Lakhamai village in Senapati, and SP Solomi (40), wife of Longne of Oinam village in Senapati, Manipur.
