Our Reporter
Dimapur, Dec. 17 (EMN):
Kohima Police observed ‘anti-drug drive week’ by cracking down on trafficking of pharma drugs on Thursday in Kohima town.

A police officer from Kohima told Eastern Mirror that they had conducted a joint exercise along with the drug inspector within Kohima town and checked some pharmacies.

According to him, certain pharmacies are licensed to sell codeine-containing drugs up to 50 bottles per month; and if this permissible limit is breached, it becomes illegal.

On Thursday, he said, they seized those drugs from pharmacies that were selling beyond the permissible limit.

The drug inspector and his department will take whatever action is deemed fit on the defaulters, he added.

The officer further informed that they are actively checking the movement of vehicles to detect trafficking of drugs across the state or districts, but “so far we have not been able to make any recoveries”.

He stated that the drive will continue till December 22.

He further informed that they are conducting poster campaigns to spread awareness regarding abuse of drugs.

He stated that the drive has been organised to spread awareness about “the evils of drugs”.
