Kohima Police arrested two in an underground extortion case and solved two motorcycle theft cases involving juveniles in Kohima.

DIMAPUR — Kohima Police dealt a blow to underground extortion networks operating in the state capital following a well-coordinated intelligence-led operation on May 18.
In a press release, Kohima Police stated that specific intelligence inputs were received at around 8 am on May 18 regarding the movement of members belonging to underground factions in the main town area. Acting swiftly, Kohima Police launched discreet surveillance operations across key locations in the town.
After sustained technical and physical surveillance, police apprehended two individuals at around 2 pm from the Razhü Point area.
The arrested persons were identified as Kudukhoyi Vero (38), and Mulevo Khesoh (35).
Both are residents of Phezoucha in Kohima and originally hail from Phek district.

During the operation, police recovered several incriminating documents from their possession, including yearly vehicle tax slips, non-local tax receipts, unserved “information letters,” annual commercial tax documents, and residency registration slips.
Following the arrests and seizures, a case has been registered at North Police Station for further investigation into the alleged extortion racket.
Police said the accused are being subjected to sustained interrogation to uncover the wider network, including other operatives, financiers, and possible links to extortion activities in other districts.
Kohima Police also appealed to citizens and business owners to report extortion demands without fear and assured that strict action would continue against such illegal activities.
2 juveniles held in bike theft
Kohima Police recovered two stolen motorcycles and apprehended two minor suspects during the investigation of South PS Case No. 0025/2026 registered under Section 305(b) of the BNS 2023.
According to police, the case was registered on May 8 following a complaint regarding the theft of a motorcycle from Midland Colony, Kohima. Acting on technical and human intelligence inputs, the investigating team identified and apprehended the two juveniles allegedly involved in the theft.
During the investigation, police recovered the stolen motorcycle from Midland Colony and also traced another motorcycle reported stolen under North Police Station jurisdiction, thereby solving two separate vehicle theft cases.
Following their apprehension, both minors were produced before the competent authority and forwarded to the Observation Home as per provisions of the Juvenile Justice Act.
After completion of legal formalities, both recovered motorcycles were handed over to their rightful owners.
