Dimapur, Dec. 19 (EMN): Kohima police have arrested two persons on December 17 in connection with lifting of hand bags from vehicles.
The accused were identified as Saravanam Marimula Naidu, son of Marimudu, and Vishal Gopal Nayadu, son of Gopal Nayadu. They were from Vakipada village in Maharastra.
A police report stated that one accused person Vishal Gopal Nayadu, during investigation, ascertained that they reached Kohima on December 17 and stole a hand bag from one vehicle which was parked near united traders shop. The modus operandi, according to the police, was that one of them would distract the vehicle owner in conversation on the pretext of leakage in the vehicle. Accordingly when the vehicle owner comes out and open the bonnet to the check the vehicle, the other person would steal the bag from the vehicle.
He also admitted of stealing a bag from southern exit gate (local ground) and kept bag at Phoolbari, which was later seized by Kohima police.
The two accused person were arrested while trying to stealing from a vehicle.
It stated that Saravanam Marimula Naidu has been handed over to judicial custody and Vishal Gopal Nayadu, being a minor, was handed over to observation home in Kezeike, Kohima.
It added that recovered bags were handed over to the rightful owners on Zimmanama.
