Dimapur, June 13(EMN): Kohima police along with Kolkata police have arrested one of the kingpins involved in the financial fraud and cheating case which was registered under Kohima South Police Station in March 2016 from Kolkata.
In a press release, additional SP, Kohima, informed that the accused identified as Prosenjit Das, a resident of 24 North Parganas in Kolkata, impersonating as customer support agents of IRDA used to cheat gullible investors by making calls to customers offering loans of huge sums against investments in insurance policies.
One such customer, a resident of Kohima was trapped in their dubious net and the unsuspecting customer invested a large sum of his hard-earned pension benefits to the tune of INR 50 lakh into the investments before he realized he has been duped, it informed.
The Kohima police team led by the investigating officer of the case landed in Kolkata with details of the investigation and arrested the accused on June 11 with the assistance of the Kolkata Police.
