The meeting of the Kohima District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) meeting for the month of March was held on March 16 in Kohima town. The meeting was presided over by vice chairman of the board, Rovilatuo Mor.
The board reviewed the minutes of the previous meeting. It was followed by presentation of departmental activities by the executive engineer (national highway) of the PWD, S. Lanu Jamir. Jamir gave an introduction to the department and highlighted the various jurisdiction of the sub-division’s length of road under Kohima district. He also gave highlights of some ongoing major development activities which are presently in progress besides various developmental programs and schemes being carried out by the department.
The assistant director of the Urban Development department, Kevilenuo Solo, gave in her presentation of departmental activities, the background of her department’s profile. She also highlighted the department’s various activities being carried out under centrally-sponsored schemes and state-sponsored schemes.
On the agenda about registration and renewal of societies, the chairperson highlighted a list of group seeking new registrations as well as renewal verified by the verifying establishment and scrutinised by the screening committee for approval of the board. The board decided to approve and forward it to the department for further necessary action.
The societies approved for registration are Nagaland Police School Society, Police HQ, PR Kohima; Agro Foundation, BOC, Below Hotel Japfü, Kohima; Kohima Phiro Ekhung, Officers’ Hill Colony, Kohima and Rashtrabhasha Sansthan welfare Society, Tseminyu. The approval list for renewal of societies are as follows:- The Nagaland Jesuit Educational and Charitable Society, Jakhama, Kohima; The Nagaland Jesuit Society, Jakhama, Kohima; Progressive Society, Merhülietsa colony Kohima; Tabitha Enabling Society, Sepfüzou colony Kohima; National Academy Society, PR Hill Colony, Kohima; St. Joseph College Society, Jakhama Kohima: Go Light Your World P&W Healing Ministry, High School Colony, Kohima; Kepvusheng Logwa, Tesophenyu Tseminyu, Kohima and Youth Care Home Society, Lerie Colony Kohima.
Reviewing the trend of attendance in the DPDB by members, Mor appreciated the officials ‘who had being attending the DPDB meeting regularly.’ However, he expressed serious concern at those ‘regular absentees’ and urged them to be more regular in the board meetings. He also encouraged all the members to share their ideas in executing their activities and work within Kohima district.
Beside formal agendas, Rovilatuo Mor, also the deputy commissioner of the district, talked about ‘road maintenance and widening, pipelines leakages, and culvert blockage.’ Said matter would have to be addressed by the departments in concern, he said.
The board has entrusted the District Agriculture Officer and DPRO of Kohima to present their departmental activities in the next board meeting.
