Dimpaur, Dec. 19 (EMN): Lower Chandmari under ward No. 13, Porterlane under ward No. 14 and PR Hill under ward No. 19 in Kohima were conferred cleanest ward awards.
The three wards were felicitated at the 8th annual inter-ward cleanliness competition cum pre-Christmas celebration 2018, organised by the Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) for all the 19 wards under its jurisdiction, held on December 15 in the premises of KMC office.
The winners were awarded with cash prizes of INR 50,000, INR 30,000 and INR 20,000 respectively along with running trophies and certificates.
Cleanest shop awards were conferred to M/s Kohima Digital Electronic, Main town; M/s KS Florist, Old Taxi Stand; and M/s United Traders, Main town. The winners were exempt of trade tax for one year, six months and 3 month respectively. They were also awarded with certificate.
The best sanitary workers award under KMC was conferred to Ngunyi and Nelie. They were given cash award of INR 5000 for their sincerity and dedication in their respective assignment.
This was stated in a press release issued by KMC administrator Kovi Meyase.
In a similar programme, Phek town council (PTC) conferred the cleanest ward award to Hebron –I ward. The award was given away during its pre-Christmas celebration held on December 18. The award carried a cash prize of INR 1,00,000 sponsored jointly by the PTC and the district administration.
The programme was chaired by the PTC administrator and the prize was given away by the deputy commissioner, Phek, Orenthung Lotha.
On the occasion, the best sanitary workers and town sweepers were also felicitated. Rev. Alem, pastor of Ao Baptist Church, delivered the Christmas message and the youth of Phek Town Baptist Church led the carol singing and presented a special number.
