Kohima, Mar. 2 (EMN): A community peer group, the Vira Lozi (14) of Tsütuonuomia khel (T khel) of Kohima village celebrated its 25th years of its existence by dedicating a “Chapru” (resting shed) at Sarüyo along the Kohima Science College road on Mar. 2 in Kohima.
Altogether 108 members are said to be registered with peli-14, which was formed in the year 1993. Peli (peer group) is prevalent in Kohima and Phek district.
The chief guest of the event, Thepfuvilie Suohu, chairman of T Khel council, told the gathering that the Chapru was necessitated ‘on the ground of safeguarding the virgin forest.’ He advised them not to ‘invite unhealthy attitude’ concerning the environment. He was hopeful that the resting shed would not only bring relief to the people but also help in protecting and preserving the area’s natural resources.
Welcoming the public to visit the spot, he hoped that they would adhere to the rules and regulation framed by peli-14. He called upon the youth to inculcate work culture to keep alive the Naga people’s traditional practices.
