Dimapur, Feb. 16 (EMN): The Kohima Nyiro Range Union (KNRU) has expressed concern over the lack of development at Nyiro Range of Wokha district.
“Nyiro Range which comprises of 7 (seven) villages with a population of more than 15 (fifteen) thousand, is the “Most Neglected Area” among the 3 (three) ranges under 37th Tyui A/C,” a press release from the union chairman and secretary stated.
The union said people of the area have been facing ‘unbearable hardships’ due to deplorable road, stating that even dead bodies cannot be transported beyond Yanthamo village particularly during rainy season.
“Nyiro range road has been the chorus of the candidates during election campaign. For some, it is their promise and commitment but it remains only in letter,” the union stated.
The union said though the area is fulfilling the eligibility criteria, there is no EAC post at Nyiro till date, no regular doctor at PHC Nyiro, no proper water supply and no significant development in the area.
Pointing out these grievances, the union said this need to be seriously viewed by every right thinking people of Nyiro range.
Considering the backwardness and lack of development in the range, the KNRU, for the benefit of the general public, appealed to the people of Nyiro Range, irrespective of their political affiliation, ‘not to fall prey before the candidates who only gives false promises and assurances but not committed to do the welfare of the people.’
The union urged the people of the area to support and elect the right candidate ‘who can truly represent his people and bring positive development in the area.’
Also, it appealed citizens not to indulge violence and support Clean Election campaign being initiated by NBCC.
