The second edition of the Kohima Mega Dance Fiesta with title ‘The Next Level’ (workshop and competition) will begin on Nov. 7 till the 9th. It is being organised by The Uni-Vibes in collaboration with Modern Dance Sports Association of India.
During a press conference, Kevy Shuya, the Managing Director of The Uni-Vibes and the other core team members said that the primary objective of the Mega Dance fiesta was to uplift dance in Nagaland.
The Uni-Vibes envisages in creating a platform for the upcoming dancers, educate them with the basic knowledge on root of culture of dance, and to prepare them for the real dance world.
Apart from the dance competition, a workshop on dancing would also be organised to create a common platform for participants to learn from one another.
Offline forms for the competition are available at Central Café, Viliethe Complex in Kohima. The Competition categories includes Open Dance Competition, K-Pop Contest, and 2 vs 2 All style Battle, it informed.
The organisers also announced that the winner of the Open Dance Competition will represent Nagaland at the National Championship in January 2020 and an exclusive video contract from Richa Productions.
While the Winner of K-Pop contest will win a coupon worth INR. 10,000/- sponsored by Active Stations, Kohima and will get the opportunity to perform during the Hornbill Festival.
Also, winners of 2 vs 2 All style Battle will win cash prizes and certificates.
Team Coordinator Lamgrace Thouthang, who is also the Judge of the competition, said that it is her dream to take Nagaland dancers at world championships. She expressed happiness to collaborate with Modern Dance Sports Association of India (MDSAI), which is affiliated to International Dance Federation. She is hopeful that such competition will start opening doors for deserving dancers to earn their livelihood through dance.
“Dance is an Art, I hope people will start appreciating and respect this art form like any other profession”, she said.
The workshop is scheduled on Nov. 7 and the 8th from 4 pm onwards at state Academy Hall in Kohima.
The semi final will be conducted on Nov. 8 while the grand finale of the Mega dance fiesta will be held on Nov. 9 from 11 am onwards at the same venue in Kohima.
