Kohima Lotha Hoho football tourney begins

EMN DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 3 The second edition of the Kohima Lotha Hoho Football tournament kick started today here at IG Stadium with Lanthamo Tsopoe, 1st Class Contractor, Government of Nagaland as the chief guest. In his inaugural speech, Lanthamo urged the players to exhibit their talent with a true sportsman spirit and further urged the players to regain the lost glory through this tournament. “To defeat an opponent there is no mercy but at the same time the players are being watched as through the game their inner qualities that are being displayed”, he added. Further, highlighting on how the first World Cup started with only 13 teams in 1930, he encouraged the participating teams that though there is only few teams participating, to give their best so that more teams will come forward in the coming years.The 5-day tournament has been organized in commemoration of the forthcoming Lotha Tokhu Emong festival which is celebrated on 7 November every year. This year 16 teams from different colonies in and around Kohima town are participating in the ongoing tournament. The first two days will be played on league followed by semi final on the 3rd day while the final match will be played on November 7, 2015. Earlier, Mhonlumo S Lotha, Associate Pastor, KLBC pronounced the invocation prayer and Mhayani Kikon enthralled the people present with a special number. Andreas Ezung, Convenor, Organizing Committee delivered the vote of thanks.
