  • Kohima Longsa Union celebrates golden jubilee

  • DIMAPUR — The Kohima Longsa Senso Telongjem (Kohima Longsa Union) celebrated its golden jubilee on Saturday at the Capital Convention Centre, Kohima, on the theme "Towards wider horizons" with MLA A Nyamnyei Konyak and MLA Benei M Lamthiu, both in-laws of Longsa village, as the special guests.

  • According to a press release, on the occasion, the time capsule sealed during the 25th anniversary was opened at the start of the programme.

  • The Jubilee programme was also attended by the Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha), S Süpongmeren Jamir, who gave an exhortation. The presidents of the Kohima Ao Telongjem and the Kohima Ongpangkong Telongjem, along with the chairman of the Longsa Village Council, also gave short messages.

  • In their address, the special guests narrated their association with Longsa village and how they considered themselves part of the village. At the same time, they encouraged the people to continue building bridges and re-strengthening old bonds.

  • The keynote address was delivered by former Chief Secretary Alemtemshi Jamir, who emphasised the importance of going beyond comfort zones and breaking new boundaries with a vision to grow globally. Expounding on the fast-moving technological world, he encouraged the gathering to keep abreast of the changing times and adapt to technology.

  • The jubilee concluded with the sealing of a time capsule for the 75th anniversary celebrations.
