DIMAPUR, AUGUST 31: The Kohima District Sports Council (KDSC) has decided to effectively manage Khuochiezie Local Ground in the interest of games and sports activities in the district. This was decided in meeting recently held in the office chamber of the Deputy Commissioner, Kohima, Rovilatuo Mor, who is also the Chairman of KDSC, this was informed in a press release to the media.
DC Kohima and Chairman KDSC stated that in order to keep the continuity of sporting activities and avoid last minute clash of programmes, the council has decided to reserve the ground to association/ organizations / clubs with effect from 2017.
Accordingly, January 1 to 15 has been allotted to KVYO (every alternate year); September 5 to 20 for Lt. Capt. Neikezhakuo Memorial Trophy; October 1 to 20 for NSF’s Martyrs Trophy; October 23 to 29 for 3E Wrestle Mania; November 1 to 20 for Classic Club; and November 22 to 26 for KDVA.
However, the council further stated that allotment and earmarking would be withdrawn for association/s falling to organise tournament regularly (for two consecutive years). The earmarking and allotment of the ground would be subjected to revision and cancellation if any official programme arises. The local ground being constructed mainly for sporting activities, usage of ground would be given priority to sporting activities. Bazaar or mela etc. activities would be barred from 2017 onwards.
The release further stated that all the District Level Sports Associations of various disciplines have to be registered with the Kohima District Sports Council by paying a onetime registration fee of Rs 2000. Application for ground allotment, financial assistance etc would be considered for registered associations/ organisations/ clubs only.
