Dimapur, Oct. 12 (EMN): Kohima Law College conducted an interaction session with Addl. DGP, Rupin Sharma IPS on Oct. 12 where the senior police officer shared his experiences as an IPS officer and as a law graduate with the students
The ADGP, Rupin Sharma, said that administrative law is one of his favourite law subjects and briefly presented on the importance of the rule of law in the society.
He said that the lawyers were on the front frame standing for their country in the world and that they are the ones fighting for human rights, etc.
“Today, the lawyers can contribute so much in bringing change in many aspects,” said that ADGP.
The law students also raised several questions and issues which were gladly responded by the guest speaker in detail ‘as he said that he was ready to answer anything which is not controversial’.
On a query about the issue of backdoor appointments, Sharma said that all the problems may not solved in one go but added there is always a solution to that. He said that job advertisement should be given importance as it is the means to give opportunity to all eligible candidates so that the appointments can be done in a fair manner.
“There is always a solution to problem and no problem should be left without attending to it,” said the ADGP.
Meanwhile, the ‘professor-in-charge students’ welfare of Kohima Law College’, Kezhokhoto Savi chaired the interaction programme and introduced the guest speaker to the students. Savi while highlighting the credentials of the ADGP said that Rupin Sharma is an IPS officer from Dharamsala, Himachal Pradesh.
He joined the service in 1992 as an IPS officer from Nagaland Cadre and has served in Nagaland for almost 19 years in various capacities including SDPO, Addl. SP, SP, CID, etc. He is one of the few officers of Nagaland who have actively handled anti-insurgency operations, both pre-ceasefire and post-ceasefire, said Savi. Sharma’s educational qualification includes a B.Sc (Medical), MBA and an LL.B degree. He had served in the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in Bosnia-Herzegovina and also served in various capacities in the cabinet secretariat, GoI including postings in Mumbai, Indian Embassy in Vietnam, Lucknow and in the CBI and Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi, stated Kezhokhoto Savi in a press statement.
