Dimapur, Sep. 3 (EMN): A “Sankalp Se Siddhi,” or ‘new India movement,’ was held at the Krishi Vigyan Kendra in Kohima. The event saw a pledge to ‘building a new India by doubling farmers’ income by year 2022 based on “seven-points strategies,” according to a press release from the Kohima KVK on Sunday.
The additional deputy commissioner of Tseminyu Theodore Yanthan was the chief guest of the event, the updates stated.
‘He spoke on the challenges of farming and encouraged the farmers including the young participants to become a successful agripreneur (sic). He further emphasized the initiative taken by the central government of India to bring revolution in the farming sector of doubling farmers income by year 2022 and wish the Kendra a grand success,’ the press release stated of his speech.
Also, Kenyuseng Tep, the president of the Rengma Hoho, who was the guest of honour, encouraged the gathering to “come together and work hand in hand for the betterment of society for a brighter tomorrow.”
Imtisenla, scientist at Kohima KVK spoke about the significance of the programme. The “new India Manthan pledge” was administered by Khekali Sema, also a scientist at Kohima KVK, the press release stated.
The participants were stated to have included village leaders, farmers; youths; bankers and members of nongovernmental organizations and government officials.
