Kohima, April 8 (EMN): TM Higher Secondary School (TMHSS) and Rüzhükhrie Higher Secondary School (RHSS) advanced to the final after defeating their respective opponents in the girl's football category at the ongoing Kohima district inter-high school tournament at Indira Gandhi Stadium (IGS), Kohima on Friday.
The two teams will clash today (Saturday) at 12 pm in IGS, Kohima.
TMHSS advanced to the final after defeating Loyola Higher Secondary School (LHSS) by 5-0 in the first semi-final match. Khrotsho-u Tsuhah scored a hat-trick, Diethosie-ü Zhale added another and an own goal from LHSS secured the win for TMHSS.
Meanwhile, RHSS thrashed GMS, Meriema in a penalty shootout, after the match ended in 2-2 draw. Neke Konyak and Dziezechünuo scored for RHSS, while Ahenu and Thenozolu scored for the Meriema team.
In boy's football, RHSS beat Baptist High 5-0. Ketoungulie Houzha scored a hat-trick, while Kezhaletuo scored two goals.
LHSS won against Children Christian School (CCS) by 3-1 in the semi-final. Avizo Phira netted two goals and Vikuto Tase scored one for LHSS, while a late goal came from CCS. In the boys final, RHSS will play against LHSS for the trophy on Saturday at 2 pm.
Singles and doubles (boys and girls) badminton was played on the first day and the winner in each category will play on Saturday.
The closing ceremony of the tournament is scheduled on Saturday at 2 pm.
