- KOHIMA — The
first edition of Kohima Inter-Badminton Club tournament, organised by the
Kohima District Badminton Association (KDBA), got underway on Thursday at
Indoor Stadium, Officer's Hill (Thegabakha), Kohima.
- A total of 14 badminton clubs from across Kohima are
participating in the two-day tournament. There will be matches across six
categories, including 75+, 85+, 95+, 105+, men's open doubles and women’s open
doubles.
- In his inaugural speech, Kesonyü Yhome, Commissioner and
Secretary to the Government of Nagaland, and president of Nagaland Badminton
Association (NBA), noted that today's fast-paced world has led to numerous
health issues like obesity and others. He expressed optimism that the
tournament will encourage the community to take up sports.

- He also expressed gratitude to the KDBA for organising the
under-15 badminton coaching camp, which he believed was a step in the right
direction in promoting young players. Furthermore, he appealed to the various
clubs to nurture young talent in their respective jurisdictions so that they
can take the game to every household.
- Kezhalezo Solo, vice president (administrator) of KDBA,
informed that the tournament was organised with an aim to foster unity,
friendship and better understanding amongst the different badminton clubs of
Kohima.
