Kohima, Sep. 4 (EMN):The Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) are struggling to dispose garbage in the dumping site after both the roads leading to Lerie and the Dzuruzou garbage dumping site were completely damaged recently due to landslides.
The alternative route to KMC dumping site was provided by the KMC beginning from September 1 via IG stadium but due to the incessant downpours, the road condition is deplorable and difficult to ply and the trucks are often left stranded on the sludgy road for hours.
The hardships faced by drivers of the KMC waste disposal trucks to maneouver to the civic body’s dumping site have been unnoticed by the authorities as well as the general public.
In this regard, the KMC has appealed to all the citizens to bear the inconveniences and cooperate with the KMC in managing their waste at household level.
The district administration and KMC are putting all efforts towards restoring the road at the earliest but said the landslides and the sinking area have made it more worst said a KMC official.
It was also learnt that KMC are in consultation with the L. Khel of Kohima village to undertake repair of the route.
The KMC has extended emergency financial assistance to the Perizie colony towards restoration of the landslide effect approach road to its dumping site in Dziiriizou area.
Administrator of Kohima Municipal Council, Kovi Meyase was unavailable when contacted by Eastern Mirror.
It was also informed that Septage Management Treatment Plant under KMC is in process and likely to be completed by next year under SIPMIU Project to tackle the menace of septic tank scientifically at Dzuruzou.
