KOHIMA, OCTOBER 23: Kohima Gorkha community celebrated the Diwali festival on October 23 at GPP Complex in Chandmari, Kohima, organised by the Gorkha Public Panchayat Kohima (GPPK) in association with Gorkha NGOs. Chief guest and Home Commissioner, Abhijit Sinha, spoke on the significant contributions of the Gorkha community to the Naga society. On the event of the Tihar celebration, he wished the community peace and prosperity to the community and the district as a whole. Guest of honour and Deputy Commissioner, Kohima, Rovilatuo Mor, spoke about the long association of the Gorkha community with the State particularly Kohima district. He applauded the tremendous contributions of the Gorkha community towards the political, socio and economy uplift of the State. He further wished the community happiness, joy and prosperity on the occasion of Diwali festival. Special guest was Col. Jagdeep Bhogel, Commandant of 3rd Assam Rifles. Lighting of the diyas was performed by the chief guest, guest of honour, special guest and president GPPK. Presentation of cultural and traditional items added colours to the celebration. The vote of thanks was delivered by Jeny Lamechane Chettri, literary secretary of Gorkha Students Union.
