Kohima, Oct. 29 (EMN): Fuel stations in Kohima wore a deserted look on Tuesday after the outlets ran out of stock, according to reports.
This was due to the landslides that have consequently affected transportation of goods between Dimapur and Kohima.
Vehicle owners and drivers were seen queuing outside fuel stations from Monday morning. It was also reported that some outlets had run out of stock by Monday evening itself.
Speaking to
Eastern Mirror, the manager of SKV petrol pump in Kohima said that petrol at their outlet was available till 3 pm on Monday, and diesel till Tuesday morning.
The manager maintained that the landslides between along the Chathe River Bridge or Patkai Bridge route in Chumoukedima has caused problems for transportation and therefore, has resulted in shortage of fuels.
He added that the diverted routes were not pliable for heavy vehicles because of the poor road conditions. He said that unless the roads were cleared and restored, it would be a problem to supply fuel to Kohima, and the other districts as well as states will also be affected.
On Tuesday, many vehicle owners and drivers were left in dilemma as they rushed for fuel between stations but could not find any as they were all out of stock.
A vehicle owner told
Eastern Mirror that he had filled his vehicle with two litres of petrol at INR 100 per litre. Other drivers and riders also said that they had re-fuelled their vehicles from private outlets in limited quantity at INR 100 per litre.
