Dimapur, August 1 (EMN): It was the year 2005 when a group of young players from Dapfütsumia Khel of Kohima Village entered the Ziekezou Football Tournament as ‘D Khel Boys’, to participate and challenge themselves to compete against the best clubs and players of Kohima.
After participating for two years, the team was renamed as ‘Addax Football Club’ in 2007 and thus emerged as a club that has been a part of most of the tournaments held in Kohima.
From its humble beginning, Addax FC has been self-financed by the club members and also through generous and free-willed contributions, support and guidance from various individuals, informed a press release from the organizers of Kohima Football League. The three feathers in the club’s logo represents, ‘charity’, ‘faith’ and ‘hope‘, it informed. “The club takes pride in promoting local talents, supporting the players and also guiding the youth to become better disciplined, more responsible and most importantly, good contributing citizens. While trophies and accolades have eluded the club, the club still strives to give our best for the beautiful game of football and our passion and commitment on and off the field has been second to none.
“Addax FC is thrilled and privileged to be a part of the up-coming Kohima Football League 2017 and pledge to abide by the rules and regulations of the League and to honour the league through fair play and disciplinary representation”, the organizers reported the club as saying.
