Dimapur, Jan. 10 (EMN): The D-Block Ward Adoption Committee under 9 Kohima town assembly constituency on the theme “Fostering development through people’s participation” was adjudged the best performing team among the six village adoption committees initiated by the Kohima District Planning and Development Board (DPDB). Zhadima village under 11 Northern Angami assembly constituency was declared the second best team. The two best Village Adoption Committees were awarded cash prize of INR 30,000 and INR 20,000 respectively and complimentary prizes for the other four teams.
The best adoption committees were awarded during the monthly DPDB meeting -cum-exit conference of village adoption programme held on January 9 at DPDB conference hall, Kohima.
Chairing the meeting, Deputy Commissioner and DPDV vice chairman, Rajesh Soundararajan has appreciated all the village adoption committees and the village chairmen for their commendable jobs. He remarked that the successful culmination of village adoption committees was a classic example of how we can achieve together as a team.
He further encouraged the members to work together and come out with such innovative activities for more development. The DC also gave away the awards to the winners.
In connection with the forthcoming state assembly election, the DC requested the members especially the Power, PHE and Education departments to ensure all minimum facilities for polling stations. He also requested all the Heads of Offices to execute their duties as responsible officers in regard to exemption and requisition of government employees and vehicles.
He further informed the members to attend the meeting in connection with the Republic Day celebration which would be held shortly and to keep track of their responsibilities.
ADC Planning and Member Secretary, KetohoLuho, while delivering the introductory remarked that the village adoption committees were formed with a vision to elevate the living conditions at the grassroot level including some urban sectors. He appreciated the DPDB Kohima for coming forward to uplift the weakest and remotest villages in the district. He further urged the members to work harder for the uplift of the villagers.
