- DIMAPUR — The
monthly meeting of the District Planning and Development Board (DPDB), Kohima,
was held at the DPDB Hall on Wednesday in the presence of its chairman, Dr.
Tseilhoutuo Rhütso, MLA, and vice chairman, Kumar Ramnikant, deputy
commissioner of Kohima.
- Addressing the agenda, Dr. Rhütso emphasised the need for
the construction of a link road at JNV Yakouke, Kohima, highlighting the
requirement for proper security fencing at the JNV. He noted that the current
footpath traverses the school premises, according to a DIPR report. The Board
agreed to forward the proposal for further action.
- The MLA urged district officers to include both challenges
and success stories in their departmental PowerPoint presentations during DPDB
meetings. He emphasised the importance of synergy among departments to ensure
efficient project execution.
- Earlier, DC Ramnikant reviewed the minutes of the previous
DPDB meeting and welcomed three new board members, including the SP Kohima
Teisovise Metha.
- He also emphasised the importance of staff attendance from
Kohima district offices at the upcoming Republic Day celebration.
- Obed Natso, executive engineer of the Water Resource
Department (WRD), Kohima Division, delivered a detailed presentation. He
outlined the department's initiatives, including Pradhan Mantri Krishi
Sinchayee Yojana-Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana, NFC projects, and the
National Hydrology Project, which are aimed at enhancing irrigation potential
and improving water resource management.
- Natso highlighted challenges such as natural calamities,
site accessibility, manpower shortages, and tight project timelines. He
elaborated on the district’s implementation of the Jal Shakti Abhiyan, “Catch
the Rain,” in alignment with the Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari initiative.
