  • DIMAPUR — The Naga People’s Front (NPF) Central Team held a consultative meeting with its Kohima Division on March 25 at the NPF Central Office Mini Conference Hall, where senior party leaders and functionaries discussed strengthening the party’s base and reaffirming its regional identity.

  • Delivering the keynote address, NPF Secretary General and MLA, Achumbemo Kikon, emphasised that while NPF remains in alliance with other political parties in the government, its core principles and ideology remain intact. He urged party workers to actively contribute to revitalising the party and strengthening its foundation, noting that Kohima, as the state’s nerve centre, carries a greater responsibility in the party’s growth.

  • NPF President, Apong Pongener, commended the Kohima Division, calling it the strongest in the state. He stressed the need for a fresh enrolment drive to expand the party’s reach and called for collective efforts to restore party’s political prominence. While acknowledging that NPF currently has only two MLAs, he expressed confidence that many leaders are interested in returning to the party.

  • “The doors of NPF are always open. This party belongs to the Nagas, and together, we must work for its growth,” the updated stated, quoting Pongener.

  • Reaffirming the party’s commitment to the Naga people, he asserted that the NPF is the ‘only regional party that truly fights for the Nagas.’

  • As per the update, S. Akho Leyri, Vice President (Administration), stated that NPF’s resurgence must begin from Kohima, urging party workers to set aside personal differences and egos and work together with a unified vision to restore the party’s strength.

  • He acknowledged that the party is at one of its lowest points, but pointed out that the very name ‘Naga’ is embedded in the Naga People’s Front, signifying its deep-rooted connection with the people.

  • The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks from Vira Lhousa, Working President of Kohima Division, followed by a benediction.

  • The session, chaired by Neisakuolie Rutsa, President of Kohima Division, began with an invocation by Yocho, Vice President of Kohima Division, followed by a welcome address from Kesoneilie Theünuo, General Secretary (COB).
