Kohima, Nov. 21 (EMN): 20 teams (including 16 men and 4 women teams) under Kohima district will be vying for their titles in the 6th edition of the Kohima district open volleyball tournament.
The volleyball tournament will begin from Nov. 22 at the Kohima local ground, Khuochiezie under the theme “Transcending through sports.”
The tournament is being organised by the Kohima District Volleyball Association (KDVA). The event will conclude on Nov. 26.
Kohima Municipal Council administrator, Kovi Meyase will attend the inaugural function as the special guest at 10 am onwards. While the welcome address will be delivered by KDVA president Visasielie Suohu. Technical director Mhalevilie Kere will administer oath to the participating teams.
The organising committee has requested all the participating teams to attend the inaugural function.
This edition, the champions in men's category will receive a cash prize of INR 35,000 while the runners- up will get INR 25,000. Both the semi-finalists will receive INR 5000 each.
In women’s category, the champion will walk home with a cash prize of INR 25,000 while the runners-up will get INR 15,000. Semi-finalists will get INR 5000 each.
Individual prizes includes best spiker and best setter in both men and women category.
