Mount Sinai HSS and Northfield enter semis as group winners

Kohima, July 6 (EMN): Mount Sinai Higher Secondary School and Northfield entered the semi-final of the ongoing 2nd Kohima District Inter-School Football Tournament as group winners after winning their respective matches in the Pool finals at the Kohima local ground on Friday.
Pool-A winner Mount Sinai HSS will now take on Pool-B loser Chandmari Higher Secondary School in the first match and Pool-B winner Northfield will now clash on with Pool-A loser Loyola School in their respective semi-final matches on Saturday.
In the first match, Mount Sinai HSS edged out Loyola 1-0 in a nervy encounter to enter the semis as Pool-A winner. Goalkeeping error from Loyola side in the second half handed a victory for Mount Sinai HSS. The winning goal came through the boots of Shovelo Doulo in the 60th minute.
In second match, Northfield came from a goal down to beat Chandmari HSS 2-1 to enter the semis as the winner of Pool-B.
In the match, Chandmari started the match brightly and took the deserving lead through Janggulan in the 15th minute.
However the resilient Northfield team juggled on as Kethosenyii found the back of the net in the 21st minute to give the much needed equaliser. The first half ended 1-1.
In the second half, Kethosenyii scored his second goal through a defensive error in the 53th minute to take the lead. Northfield team defended the score line for a 2-1 win.
Saturday matches (semi-finals)
1st match: Mount Sinai HSS (Pool A winner) vs Chandmari HSS (Pool B loser) at 1 pm
2nd match: Northfield (Pool B winner) vs Loyola HSS, Jakhama (Pool A loser) at 3 pm
