Loyola School and Mount Sinai enter Pool A final

Kohima, July 4 (EMN): Loyola Higher Secondary School, Jakhama and Mount Sinai Higher Secondary School booked their semi-final berth after winning their respective quarter-final matches at the ongoing 2nd Kohima District Inter-School Football Tournament at the Kohima local ground on Wednesday.
With the win, Loyola will take on Mount Sinai in the Pool A final on Friday. After the Pool Finals, the winner of Pool-A will compete with the loser of Pool-B and the loser of Pool-A will compete with the winner of Pool-B in their respective semi-final matches.
LHSS Jakhama registered an easy win 3-0 over Don Bosco HSS in the first quarterfinal match. With the win, Loyala will be one of the favourite team to progress into the final match. So far in three matches, they have score 13 goals with Vinongol Luho leading the goal tally with five goals, and Keduhoto Zao in second with three goals.
In a one sided match, LHSS took the early lead through Keduhoto in the 5th minute. Don Bosco on defensive side was on counter attack but failed to breach the defensive line as LHSS goalkeeper was kept quiet in the first half.
Don Bosco started brightly in the second half, but it was an own goal in the 58 minute that put much pressure for the team to find their rhythm back. In the making, the DBHSS goalkeeper’s Bunty kick was deflected by its own defender into back of the net to hand the second goal for Loyola team.
Kiren Thasusow rounded up the game as he scored the third goal in the 68th minute to end the match in favour of LHSS.
In the second match, Mount Sinai HSS escaped a narrow defeat after Toshisongzung’s goal in the second half secured a victory over St Paul Phesama.
In the heated encounter, Mount Sinai took the lead through Moses Marak in the 17th minute after Dougunlal Lhouvum latched on to a pass into the box for Marak to score. The goal was then cut short within five minutes after Mhasineizo scored the equaliser through a stunning free kick. The first half ended 1-1.
The second half, Mount Sinai looking for a winning goal wasted numerous efforts but it was all Toshisongzung’s goal which he scored through a curling kick outside the box in the the 56th minute that handed victory for Mount Sinai. The match ended 2-1 in favour of Mount Sinai HSS.

2nd match: Northfield vs G. Rio School at 2:40 pm
