Loyola HSS Jakhama thrash Grace HSS in a nine goal thriller

Kohima, July 3 (EMN): Vinongol Luho scored five goals as Loyola Higher Secondary School Jakhama thrashed Grace Higher Secondary School 8-1 in the pre-quarterfinal match of the ongoing 2nd Kohima District Inter-School Football Tournament here at the Khuochiezie ground in Kohima on Tuesday.
Luho’s hat-trick, a brace from Keduhoto Zao and a goal from Mecievi Khieya in the first half gave LHSS Jakhama a six goal lead in the first half.
Grace HSS did score a consolation goal in the second half through Akenyu but Luho rounded up the game with a brace in the second half, thus becoming the first player in the tournament to score five goals in a match.
With the win, Loyola HSS Jakhama will now face Don Bosco HSS in the first quarterfinal match on Wednesday.
In the first match, Don Bosco HSS outclassed Bethel HSS 5-0 to enter quarters.
In a one sided match, Mhasiletuo opened the scoring in the 23th minute for DBS team and Jewabu added the second in 26 minute to make it 2-0 in the first half.
The second half, Don Bosco HSS scored three more goals through Lamthio Akiheto and Thejangulie to end the match 5-0.
While the last years runners up, G Rio School came from a goal down to beat Mount Carmel 2-1 in the second match.
G Rio survived a scare as late goal from Pelengulie Kire in the extra time helped the team to win the match and to make sure they stay in the tournament.
Mount Carmel player Hikoto scored the opening goal in the 9th minute but G Rio team equalised through Sevizo in the the 21 minute. Pelengulie Kire then scored the much needed goal in the injury added time to send G Rio into the quarters of the tournament.
With the win, G Rio will take on Northfield on Thursday’s quarterfinal match.

First match: Don Bosco HSS vs Loyola School at 1 pm
Second match: St. Paul Phesama vs Mount Sinai HSS at 2.40 pm
