Chandmari HSS, St Paul HSS, and Northfield enter quarters

Kohima, July 2 (EMN): Chandmari Higher Secondary School, St.Paul Higher Secondary School, and Northfield School won their respective pre-quarterfinal matches to enter the quarterfinals of the ongoing 2nd Kohima District Inter-School Football Tournament here at the Khuochiezie ground in Kohima on Monday.
In the match, Chandmari Higher Secondary School (CHSS) defeated Baptist Mission School Jotsoma (BMSJ) via tie-breaker after the match ended in 1-1 draw.
In the match, CHSS scored through a spot kick conversion from Veniio in 49th minute, after the referee awarded a spot kick for a foul play inside the 18-yard box by Mhasinyiizo.
However in three minutes time, Kedosie Nagi's headed home the equaliser for BMSJ as the match ended in a 1-1 draw.
In the penalty shoot-out, Mezhiesilie, custodian of CHSS saved two goals while Abizo Nakhro (1) of BMSJ saved one but the game ended 4 - 3 in favor of CHSS.
In the second match, St.Paul Higher Secondary School (SPHSS) also defeated Holy Family Higher Secondary School (HFHSS) via penalty shootout after the match ended in 1-1 draw.
In an entertaining penalty shoot-out, both custodians Thejasie for SPHSS and HFHSS' Rozii (1) saved four spot kicks. But in the end, luck did favoured SPHSS as the match ended 2-1.
HFHSS goal was scored by Honwen in 16th minute while Keleze (11) scored the equalising goal for SPSP in 40th minute to end the match in a draw.
While Northfield scarped passed Government Higher Secondary School Jotsoma (GHSS) 2-0 in the third match. Two goals from North Field School in the second half through Kethosenyii and Samuel send them through to the quarters.
GHSS Jotsoma wasted numerous opportunities throughout the match, Rokoneilie Medoze got the opportunity to give the lead for the team after the referee handed a penalty in the 9th minute for a handball but his shot went off the target. GHSS Jotsoma paid their price as they suffered a defeat to end their saga in the tournament.
