Dimapur, October 14: Kohima unit of Congress party has decided to set up Urban Local Body Committee for the district at the earliest and to fight the ensuing Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) elections in all the 19 wards and 9 wards in Tseminyu Town Committee.
The decision to this effect was taken in a joint meeting of Kohima district PCC members and vice presidents of Kohima District Congress Committee (KDCC) held on October 14.
All the vice presidents, who are also in-charge of the constituencies, submitted their report. PCC members Khriedi Theüno briefed on the legal procedure of elections, while Medokul Sophie emphasised on the party worker to keep their focus positively to take the party forward. Speaking in the meeting, PCC member Seyiekuolie, asked the party workers to meet and interact with people regularly and make known the programmes and policies of the Congress party. He said such exercise will ultimately bring positive result in the municipal as well as in the general elections. He also challenged the party workers to work hard for the welfare of the people.
The house also deliberated on the mis-governance of NPF led DAN government which has brought about complete halt in all the state developmental work particularly on bad road conditions.
KDCC president, Kevi Vizo, and the general secretary (Admn), Abalie Medoze, appealed the citizens to make wise of their franchise and vote for the Congress party in the coming municipal elections.
