[dropcap]B[/dropcap]JP Kohima district unit today cleaned the streets of the state capital while also calling upon the denizens to adopt good sanitary practices for dignified and healthy life style.
The campaign was launched as part of the nationwide Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (Clean India Mission) under the theme “Clean Kohima Drive”.
The BJP workers commenced the cleaning from Kohima district BJP office premises, opposite Kohima Head Post Office to Phoolbari and culminated at Razhu point along with BJP legislators Dr. TM Lotha and Imtilemba Sangtam.
Dr. Lotha in his speech called upon everyone to come forward and give their best effort and be dedicated to towards cleanliness. He said cleanliness must start from the household level and then carry forward to the town and village levels.
BJP state executive member Visasolie Lhoungu stressed on the need to take advantage of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan to secure a good lifestyle.
He observed that people must develop civic sense and a sense of belongingness to public property.
BJP general secretary and spokesman James Vizo said that Swachh Bharat Abhiyan was initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi which officially launched on October 2, 2014 and will culminate on 2nd October 2019 to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
Therefore, Vizo stressed on the need to make this cleanliness campaign as a mass movement and at the same time urged upon all the concerned individuals, organizations and institutes to join this campaign with zeal and make Clean Nagaland and Clean India.
Over 70 party workers joined the cleanliness drive.
Meanwhile, Kohima District BJP president Vidilhoulie Theunuo and general secretary Apel Thapru expressed gratitude to Visasolie Lhoungu for showing good gesture by sponsoring this programme.
