Dimapur, August 4 (EMN): The diocesan fraternity of Kohima Diocese celebrated the feast of St. John Marie Baptiste Vianney, the Patron Saint of all priests on August 4 at St. Joseph College, Jakhama.
On the occasion, Rev. Fr. Solomon Vizo, the Sacerdotal Jubilarian was the main celebrant of the solemn Eucharistic celebration and concelebrated by Bishop James Thoppil, Fr. Mariadhoss, silver Jubilarian along with 50 priests.
The main celebrant in his introductory note thanked God for the gift of priesthood and wished all the fathers the festal greetings.
Fr. Mariadhossre called in his Homily, with gratitude the innumerable blessings he received from the Lord and also some trying moments that he underwent during his 25 years as a priest. Recalling the experience of John Mary Vianney who overcame dark moments in his life through intense prayer, he said that it is prayer and support of a couple priests that enabled him to sail through the rough years of life.
Frs. Solomon Vizo and Mariadhsoss, the Silver jubililarians, were felicitated after the Eucharistic celebration by the diocesan fraternity. A felicitation programme was organised by the Josephites family with as a sign of appreciation for the dedicated service of the priests of the diocese of Kohima.
Earlier, Rev. Fr. Sebastian O, the principal of St. Joseph College, the host of the Vianney Day celebration accorded words of welcome to the fathers and other participates. He also elaborated on the importance of the day and briefed on the life and works of St. John Mary Vianney and set the tone of the Holy Eucharistic celebration.
Rev. Fr. Solomon Vizo, on behalf of the diocesan fraternity, thanked Fr. Sebastian O, Fathers, Sisters and the students of St, Joseph’s College for the success of the programme.
A friendly Basketball match was also played between the senior and junior Fathers.
On August 3 evening, the diocesan fraternity gathered together for a meeting to discuss various issues pertaining to the smooth running of the diocese. Bishop James appreciated the priests for their dedicated and committed work in the different parts of the state of Nagaland, enduring all hardship and trials.
