Dimapur, May 26 (EMN): The feast of Mary Help of Christians- the patroness of the Cathedral and the Diocese of Kohima- was celebrated on May 26.
Rev. Dr. Dominic Lumon, Archbishop of Imphal, was the main celebrant of the Holy Eucharist and con-celebrated by Rev. Frs. Carolus Neisalhou, Vicar General; CJ Jaison, Principal of St. Mary’s Cathedral School; George Punnoil; Titus Zimik; Lawrence Khing; and Victor Renthungo.
During the celebration 55 children received the sacrament of the first Holy Communion.
In his homily, Archbishop explained the significance of the feast of the Ascension. He has termed the feast as “Feast of hope” that gives the Christian philosophy of life. He also added that the feast reminds of a relationship with each other, to love and help each other.
While reflecting on the importance of Eucharist, he remarked that “Where there is Catholic Church, the Eucharistic presence is tangibly experienced.” He has stressed on the need to realise and experience the real presence of Christ in us so as to reflect the image of God.
Parish Priest, Fr. Carolus Neisalhou, accorded the words of welcome to sisters, parents of the first communicants and all the invited guests. He delivered his festal greetings to all the parishioners and thanked them for their fervent expression and living of Catholic Christian faith. Song of praise was presented by the first communicants after the reception of the Holy Communion.
