RD Block Kohima celebrated the 125th birth anniversary of Dr. BR Ambedkar cum Panchayati Raj Day on April 21 at Kohima Village.
Vihesanuo Solo, Block Development Officer, Kohima, chaired the function. She welcomed the participants consisting of the village council members, VDBs, KVGOK, KMK, KVYO, KVSU, GBs of different khels and elders from Kohima village to the occasion. Medoselhou Keretsü greeted the gathering and welcomed them on behalf of the village.
The resource persons from Social Welfare, Nokcharenla Lonchar, DPO, and Imnatuba Jamir, RD department, gave presentation on their departmental activities.
Konei Nakhro spoke on the life of Dr. BR Ambedkar and the significance of the 73rd amendment 1992 which brought into force the Panchayati Raj to promote rural development, foster farmers’ welfare and enhance the livelihood of the poor. Ruokuoneisa, VDB member of Kohima Village, highlighted on the village activities within its 5 years Plan period.
The BDO congratulated the Kohima village for having been declared as one of the best performing VDBs in the district and encouraged them to continue with the good works for the welfare of the people.
The meeting concluded with the vote of thanks delivered by Imkongsangla Jamir, Kohima Block.
In a related programme, the block level celebration of National Panchayati Day was held in the conference hall of SDO (Civi), Dhansiripar, on April 22. The celebration was jointly organized by Rural Development Department and Social Welfare Department.
On the occasion, Neiketouzo Kenguruse, SSA, CO office, Dhansiripar, presented a life sketch of Dr. BR Ambedkar and his significant contributions toward the transformation of the country. He also talked about the amendment of Panchayati Raj in the country.
Er. Atu Imsong, Block Development Officer, Dhansiripar, gave a presentation on programmes and activities of RD department. He also emphasised on micro finance programme for financial uplift of villages and NLRM.
Benjamin Sema, Supervisor, CDPO office, Dhansiripar, enlightened the gathering about the activities of the social welfare department. Success stories of ICDS and MGNREGA were also presented during the programme.
Anuo Longho, CDPO Dhansiripar who chaired the function, also proposed the vote thanks.
Departmental officials of Rural Development and Social Welfare along with village council chairmen and members under RD Block Dhansiripar, elders, VDB secretaries and Anganwadi workers attended the programme.
