
Dimapur, March 23 (EMN): The deputy commissioner (DC) of Kohima, Gregory Thejawelie, on Monday issued directives to be complied with immediate effect, as precautionary measures to prevent and control the outbreak of the novel coronavirus.
All construction works except road construction has been put on hold, while students coming from other states are to observe home isolation for 14 days, a press release informed on Monday.
All the village council chairmen, ward/colony chairmen have been asked to convey the information to all the concerned.
"Movement of public has been restricted except those coming out of their houses for procurement and distribution of essential commodities, medical facilities etc.," it read. All commercial passenger vehicles, both public and private like buses, taxis, and two-wheeler taxis have been barred from plying and interstate entry point at Khuzama would be sealed, except for movement of essential commodities, security forces, medical equipments and supplies.
"However the drivers and passengers of the vehicle shall be screened," it added.
In view of the Covid-19 outbreak, Kohima Deputy Commissioner Gregory Thejawelie has directed all area administrative officers to immediately issue advisory to all village councils to restrict the movement of public within their respective jurisdictions as precautionary measures to control the spread of the virus in the district.
In an order, administrative officers have been asked to issue advisory to village council, especially restrict movement of people coming from outside, to avoid gathering of people, to immediately earmark/designate council hall (preferably) or village rest houses or other places as quarantine zone, council to get in touch with local health workers in-case of any exigencies or contact Kohima Helpline no. 8575563906/6909937493, and to immediately corroborate and issue all other notification and guidelines by the state government on Covid-19 to all village councils for strict compliance, an update provided by DIPR stated.
The DC also informed that entry of public to the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Kohima will be restricted, except for cases that require immediate attention of the office on request.
The Kohima District Task Force (DTF) for Covid-19 conducted its review meeting under the chairmanship of deputy commissioner Kohima, Gregory Thejawelie in his office chamber, Kohima on March 23.
According to an update, the DC told the gathering during the meeting that all measures and preparations have been taken up by the DTF and the concerned members in their respective areas. He urged the members to ensure that all government directives are implemented in the interest of the public.
The medical superintendent of Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK), Kuobunuo and deputy chief medical officer and Dr. Hoito briefed the members on the preparedness level at NHAK and Chedema Ayush hospital. District surveillance officer Dr. Asenuo also informed the members that the surveillance team is closely monitoring the people coming from outside the state as per the guidelines.
Earlier, the DC apprised the members on the instructions and directives issued by the government.
