DIMAPUR — Kohima district administration has announced a series of traffic regulations to manage movement during major upcoming events, including the ‘Nagaland United: A Gathering of Faith, Hope & Revival’ event on November 30.

According to a DIPR update on Saturday, the Deputy Commissioner of Kohima, B Henok Buchem, issued the directives in view of anticipated heavy traffic flow and ongoing highway works across key routes in the state capital.

One-way around IG Stadium

For the November 30 faith gathering at Indira Gandhi Stadium, traffic will be regulated from 12 noon to 10 pm.

The route covering High School Junction–IG Stadium–High Court Junction–Nagaland Civil Secretariat Road will function as a one-way ring road (clockwise).

A one-way restriction will also be in place from Northfield Junction on NH-2 towards the RBI Office via Northfield School during the same period.

Citing the National Highways Kohima Division, the DC updated that NH-29 near Liezocha (173.300 km) and Kezanu (175.350 km) has been opened for heavy vehicles up to six-wheeled trucks, easing movement on the busy corridor.

Traffic control for night carnival

In another advisory for night carnival, the DC informed that vehicles from Dimapur and northern districts will be diverted through the Peducha–Tsiesema (10 Mile) route.

LMVs and two-wheelers within Kohima will be rerouted from Y-Junction to the Post Office, Khuochiezie local ground, and Razhü Point.

Buses from BOC/PR Hill will follow the Y-Junction–DC Office–Assam Rifles Gate–Ao Church route before returning to BOC/PR Hill.

City buses will pick up and drop off passengers at the local ground south gate, while those from the High School area will turn around at Razhü Point.

Departmental buses will return via Tsutuo Kharu gate and the IG Stadium bypass road.

Also, the DC requested all commercial establishments in Kohima town to install Christmas decorations and adequate lighting outside their premises during the Hornbill and festive season to enhance the city’s ambience.
