Dimapur, July 10 (EMN): Kohima District Congress Committee (KDCC) has resolved to strengthen the party at the grassroots within the district in preparation for the 2023 State general election.
The resolution to this effect was taken at the constituency-wise consultative meeting with leaders of all the seven Assembly Constituency Congress Committees (ACCC) in the district along with the frontal organisations under KDCC including mahila, youth and NSUI at Congress Bhavan, Kohima, on July 10.
In an update, KDCC press secretary, Yangertemjen, stated that the respective ACCCs have submitted the constituency reports and also shared their problems.
Exhorting the leaders, KDCC president Kevi Vizo lauded the hard work put in by all the ACCCs during the last Lok Sabha elections. He also appreciated the ACCC and frontal leaders for standing firm on the principles and ideologies of the Congress party despite some leaders shifting their loyalty to other parties in search of power.
He encouraged them not to lose heart saying that Congress would return to power in the 2023 elections. He stated that even though the Congress party is not in power at the Centre or the State, people are wilfully enrolling themselves as Congress members.
In this regard, he has solicited the Naga intellectuals and commoners desirous of upholding secularism and democratic freedom to join the Congress fold.
Handing over the Congress membership enrolment list of Kohima district to the respective ACCCs, Vizo asked them to make detailed assessment of those still within the party and to remove the names of those who have shifted to other parties.
KDCC president also expressed happiness towards all the ACCCs for setting up of polling booth committees in the 226 polling stations of Kohima district.
The second session of the consultative meeting was held with the frontal organisations under KDCC including the mahila, youth and NSUI. Addressing the members, KDCC president Vizo urged them to remain firm and work hard to bring back the Congress party to power in 2023.
