Dimapur, Jan. 31 (EMN): Kohima District Congress Committee (KDCC) has encouraged all the Assembly Constituency Congress Committees (ACCCs) and frontal organisations to prepare for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections by educating voters with the people’s welfare policies and programmes of the Congress party.
This was conveyed to the party workers during the consultative meeting of KDCC with the office bearers of seven ACCCs along with the frontal organisations held at Congress Bhavan, Kohima, on January 31.
A press release issued by Yangertemjen, KDCC press secretary, stated that KDCC officials led by its president, Kevi Vizo, have patiently listened to the problems and concern shared by the officials from 8 Western Angami ACCC, 9 Kohima Town ACCC, 10 Northern Angami-I ACCC, 11 Northern Angami-II ACCC, 12 Tseminyu ACCC, 14 Southern Angami-I ACCC, 15 Southern Angami-II ACCC, Kohima District Mahila Congress, Kohima district NSUI, and Kohima District Youth Congress.
The consultative meeting was convened to re-strengthen the party set-up from ACCC as it the backbone of the party. The release stated that ACCCs and frontal organisations were encouraged to prepare for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections by educating the voters with the peoples welfare policies and programmes of the Congress party.
During the deliberations, it was emphasised that such consultative meetings should be held regularly between the DCC and ACCC executives and frontal organisations in order to develop togetherness and better understanding despite being in opposition for more than 15 years.
As the grassroots level functionaries of the party, the discussion were also focused on giving free hand to the ACCC and frontals chiefs so as to achieve better result oriented performance.
The consultations also viewed that the district Congress leaders at levels should be humble and welcoming to those willing to join the party.
While reiterating the January 25, 2019, stand of the KDCC, the house questioned the decision of the NDPP-led PDA government’s decision in convening a consultative meeting with the political parties and Naga civil societies on Citizenship Amendment Bill 2016.
The house expressed surprise to note that NDPP candidate Tokheho Yepthomi, who is the only MP in Lok Sabha from Nagaland, had signed the passage of the Bill in the Lok Sabha on January 8, 2019. While noting the motive of PDA government to be dangerous, KDCC along with the seven ACCCs and KDCC frontal organisations have demanded Yepthomi to immediately withdraw his signature. It also urged the PDA allies to snap ties with the BJP “if they truly stand by the rights of the Naga people.”
