
Dimapur, Dec. 2 (EMN): Office of the chief medical officer (CMO) of Kohima under the department of Health and Family Welfare commemorated ‘Vasectomy Fortnight’ in its office’s conference hall on December 2 on the theme “Now men will fulfill their responsibility and show their participation by adopting family planning.”
An update from the CMO’s office informed that ‘Vasectomy Fortnight’ is observed from November 21 to December 4 all across the country.
Speaking at the programme, the CMO of Kohima, Dr. Tumchobeni reminded the healthcare providers as well as the frontline workers to generate demand by creating awareness in their colonies, wards etc during this vasectomy fortnight.
The district program officer of (UIP/RCH), Dr. Rupert Peseyie, informed the participants that activities on basket of choices regarding family planning–counseling of eligible couples, fixed day services, male sterilisation, female sterilisation, IUCD, PPIUCD, PAIUCD, MPA, injectables and drop back facilities would be made aware by frontline workers and facility staff during the ongoing vasectomy fortnight.
He also mentioned that condom boxes would installed in all facilities and strategic locations ensuring awareness on family planning during the period.
Report stated that specific focus on condom distribution by ASHA and family planning services including long acting reversible contraceptives (injectable MPA and IUCD) with special focus on vasectomy would be carried during the period.
The programme was attended by deputy CMO, programme officers, DPM, DCM, BPM, ASHA and AWW.
