Dimapur, Sep. 8 (EMN): Kohima College in Kohima celebrated its annual college week aimed at encouraging students to develop their skills and talents. The college week-literary day, which was held from September 3 to the 6th, was conducted with the slogan "Harnessing your talent," which according to the organisers was "a theme that keeps with the spirit of the vision statement and the mission statement visualized by the founding fathers of the college 52 years ago."
The college issued a press release to the media informing about the event.
Ralimongla, principal of the college, while addressing the inaugural function stated that “True education should be an ongoing process dedicated to the progress of life. It is no more just a tool for career building and a degree is not enough anymore."
She also "encouraged the students to identify their talents by trying to recall what activity thrilled them as a child", and stressed on the " importance of hard work, precision, efficiency and practice to refine one’s talent", the statement read.
“It is these qualities that bridges the gaps between good and great," she stated.
The event comprised various activities such as poetry, singing, extempore speech, dance, debate, painting and essay competitions along with a sports meet. The sports meet comprised of sports and athletic matches, both indoor and outdoor, and wrestling matches, it said.
Mt. Zanibu was declared the overall champion, followed by Mt. Tiyi and Mt. Saramati in second and third place, while Mt. Japfu came in the fourth place.
