Kohima, March 21 (EMN): Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on Monday said there were ‘some land issues’ in the Kohima bye-pass road, and it will be taken up when the issues of damaged properties and compensations are resolved.
He stated this while replying to a starred question raised by MLA Kuzholuzo Nienu on the status of the Kohima bye-pass road packages- I, II, III and IV.
Rio said he had also written a letter to the minister in-charge, Ministry or Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) to resolve the issues and added that “the recommendations have been sent, whether it will be accepted or not, it is awaited”.
Meanwhile, the department of Road and Bridges in a written reply also stated that the Package I- is not yet awarded; Package II is being executed by M/S Bharat Construction (India) Pvt. Ltd with a physical progress of 22.50%.
It added that Package III is not yet awarded and Package IV is being executed by M/S Pele Khezhie with physical work progress of 5.8%.
Further, it stated that the Packages I and II were terminated with the reasons that it was “foreclosed as per the contractor’s request as per in-built clauses of bidding documents” in both the packages.
Meanwhile, Kuzholuzo Nienu said developmental works in Phek town were going on ‘in a war footing’ and urged the department of Urban Development to visit the site to ensure that contractors are following the specifications of works allotted.
He stated this while making a statement following his starred question in the 11th session of the 13th Nagaland Legislative Assembly.
His question was raised to the Urban Development Department (UDD) asking the works undertaken within Phek town from 2020 till date by the Ministry of Urban Development.
The minister in-charge, Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio replied that ‘no works had been taken up within Phek Town from 2020 till date by the Ministry of Urban Development’.
