Dimapur, June 10 (EMN): The Naga Business Association Kohima (NBAK) held its 2nd general meeting on June 9 at the APO hall in Kohima.
Chairing the programme, Joint Secretary NBAK Jean Metha, highlighted the aims and objectives of the association and asserted that its formation was solely for the uplift and safeguard of the local entrepreneurs. A press release received from the association on Sunday informed.
In his welcome address, President NBAK Katsükhrie Kesiezie extended appreciation and gratitude to various Naga factions for respecting the association and exempting them from taxation.
He also pointed out the drawbacks and loopholes prevalent within Naga entrepreneurship and reiterated that ‘it is the time for solution and action.’ He also appealed the government for state-wise trade license and preference to the local people for main dealerships in the state.
Exhorting the members of the association, Advisor NBAK Theyie-o Solo, advised the entrepreneurs to channelize and practically visualized their trade and seek loan. He expressed his concern for the state’s economy as all commodities imported. He encouraged the members to look beyond to ensure export local products as well. He urged the entrepreneurs to help each other in site-findings, bank loans and any business related issues. He also appealed the government to include a business representative in the price monitoring committee.
During the meeting, the house unanimously passed the resolution for the re-affirmation of one government-one tax.
Entrepreneurs from different field shared their grievances and opinions and sought solution during the discussion hour. The house also discussed on expansion of business as the percentage of Nagas in business remains very low in Kohima.
The association further requested commercial landowners to give preference for local business.
