Dimapur, August 16 : A joint meeting comprising district administration, Kohima Municipal Council (KMC), Kohima Village Youth Organisation (KVYO) and Kohima Chamber of Commerce and Industries (KCCI) was held today under the chairmanship of Additional Deputy Commissioner, Lithrongla Tongpi at DC’s Conference Hall.
The meeting discussed on tender system for permitting import of essential commodities to the municipal area. The KMC was asked to continue with the old system of open tender until a concrete direction is received from the government. It also decided to write to the government on the issue of tendering of essential commodities in view of the negative impact of tendering of coupons on prices of essential commodities.
The meeting also decided that traders will inform the administration and police if anybody forces them to buy their coupons and that necessary action will be taken against such perpetrators.
The KVYO was requested to keep on hold its proposed actions in view of the positive deliberations. The meeting concluded with vote of thanks tendered by the ADC Kohima.
