Kohima board convenes first meeting of 2017

Parliamentary Secretary for Youth Resources & Sports, Lotteries and MTF Khriehu Liezietsu presided over the meeting. He is also the chairman of the board for the district. Khriehu Liezietsu facilitated the new deputy commissioner of Kohima district, also the vice chairman of the development board, Rajesh Soundararajan. He described the new deputy commissioner as a sincere and bright young IAS officer who has gained experience in the district administration from previous posting across the state. The parliamentary secretary has expressed confidence that Rajesh Soundararajan ‘will do justice’ in his new role as the administrator of the state’s capital and ‘the crucial district of Kohima,’ according a DIPR report on Monday. Further, Khriehu Liezietsu thanked and complimented all the members of the DPDB for their effort, time and innovation invested into the DPDB for the welfare and development of the district. Their efforts are ‘really noble and impressive,’ the DIPR report stated. He said that the district being the state capital was expected to set examples for others to emulate. There, the report stated, the parliamentary secretary called upon the forum to lead the rest of the state by setting examples to ‘be more progressive in its activities and make Kohima the first district in true sense.’ In his address, the new deputy commissioner and vice chairman of the Kohima DPDB, Rajesh Soundararajan, said that the forum was a platform for discussions about various innovative ideas. It is upon the board to see that the ideas are implemented, he said. Soundararajan also urged the members to take their work seriously and requested them to come up with innovative ideas ‘so as to set an example both in its functioning and deliverance to the other districts.’ Also, the deputy commissioner sought the support and cooperation of the board’s members. He assured to reciprocate. The DC also informed that the District Disaster Management Authority will have a meeting on January 27. During the meeting, the two best adoption committees were announced by additional deputy commissioner (headquarters) Lithrongla Tongpi who is also the convener of the core committee. The awards were handed over by Parliamentary Secretary Khriehu Liezietsu. The best Adoption Committee Award went to the High School ward Adoption Committee of the 10th Northern Angami. A sum of Rs. 30,000 was awarded to the committee. The second best Adoption Committee Award went to Chiechama Village Adoption Committee of 11th Northern Angami-II. A sum of Rs, 20,000 was awarded to the committee. In the meeting, other agendas included registration of societies was discussed. The board has decided to approve the Paralympics Committee of Nagaland, located opposite to the Government Polytechnic in Kohima town, for new registration. Denis Angami, District Soil Conservation Offices of Kohima, gave a brief report about the department’s work through its Phesama Adoption Committee. The Kohima Municipal Council and Public Health Engineering department was requested to present a report of their activities in the next DPDB meeting.
