Ayush Integrated Wellness Camp at Kohima Bible College highlights mindful living and holistic health awareness.

KOHIMA — An Ayush Integrated Wellness Camp was held at Kohima Bible College (KBC), Kohima, on Saturday on the theme ‘Mindful living.’
According to an update, during the devotional service, Rev. Dr. Zotuo Kiewhuo, Principal, KBC, gave a sharing and asserted that physical wellbeing is equally important as mental and spiritual wellbeing, and emphasised the need to keep them healthy.
He acknowledged the officials of the medical department for coming forward to conduct the camp at Kohima Bible College.
Reflecting on the Bible and God’s creation since the beginning, he said God created mankind in His own image and added, “Your body is the temple of God,” emphasising the need to keep it fit and healthy.

He also asserted the need to remain healthy and grateful for the life God has given. He added that the Bible teaches about being concerned for the body so as to do what is right and good.
Maintaining that eating healthy is biblical, he added that one needs to distinguish between good and bad foods that could lead to temptation and wrongdoing and also harm the body. He called for stewardship, encouraging people to live like Daniel from the Bible.
Rev. Kiewhuo also emphasised the importance of healthcare and being watchful of unhealthy habits and lifestyles, while stressing the imperative of keeping a healthy soul and spirit.
Dr. T Bendangtula, Deputy Director, Ayush, Directorate of Health and Family Welfare (DoH&FW), spoke on ‘health & wellness’, stating that wellness is a common word, but many do not know its actual meaning.
She highlighted the facilities and services available in the state under the Ayush system, wherein doctors and staff are spread across different parts of the state.
She also pointed out the need to go back to nature in order to live healthily, while asserting that different kinds of sicknesses and diseases are emerging amid advancements in science and technology, even in the field of medicine.
Speaking about wellness, Dr. Bendangtula said that every day practices define wellness, including the food that we take.
Highlighting disease patterns, she stated that in the past, diseases were mostly infectious, and people died from such illnesses, but now people are facing non-communicable diseases (NCDs), which are produced within due to unhealthy lifestyles.
She highlighted the importance of nutrition in one’s life to stay healthy, along with exercise, proper sleep and rest, emotional regulation, maintaining good social relationships, and spiritual health.
Dr. Lanusunep, consultant, State Medicinal Plants Board (SMPB), DoH&FW, gave a presentation on ‘The Creator's provision’ highlighting the need to realise the gifts of nature and to realised the full potential
The programme was chaired by Zhapuvilie Yashü, assistant professor, KBC, and the invocation and Bible reading were done by H Athew, chaplain, KBC.
Following the formal programme, a plantation drive by SMPB, Nagaland, and an Ayush health camp were conducted, with students and staff taking part in the plantation drive and getting their health checked.
