Kohima authorities order removal of road obstructions

Dimapur, Nov. 16 (EMN): The district authorities of Kohima have ordered citizens to remove within seven days all obstructions along roads such as construction materials and vehicles. Failure to do so will invite confiscation and disposal from the authorities besides penalty for offenders, updates stated. The government publicity agency the department of Information and Public Relations (IPR) gave updates to the media on Saturday informing about a notification from the district’s administration. Deputy Commissioner Gregory Thejawelie issued a notice to citizens ordering them to remove all construction and building materials and ‘off road vehicles,’ unused water pipelines and hanging water cables and pipelines from the highway and roadsides within seven days from the date of issue of this notice ie., November 16, the IPR stated. The notice stated that failing to do as ordered will invite removal of the debris and obstructions. They will be confiscated and disposed-off as deemed fit and offenders will be penalised, the updates stated. “Off road vehicles” (sic) will be towed away by the police ‘at the cost of the owners,’ the IPR added. The notice was issued observing that there still are construction and building materials, stones, logs, timbers, ‘off road vehicles’ etc lying along  roads and the highway obstructing free flow of traffic and movement of pedestrians  in spite of repeated orders, the updates stated.
