Kohima, Jan. 19: Following the failure of some house owners in dismantling their compensated properties even after the last date of the extension order given by the Deputy Commissioner, Kohima, the district administration, led by the SDO (Civil) Sechü Zubza Lanusenla Longkumer Peseyie, carried out an eviction drive along the stretch of National Highway 29 today between Peducha and Sechü Zubza.
It may be mentioned that the DC Kohima issued a public notice in December 2016, directing every compensated house owners to dismantle their houses as early as possible.
Talking to Eastern Mirror, the SDO (C) Sechü Zubza informed that they (Administration) had issued general information on January 15, 2017, reminding every compensated house owner to comply to the notice issued earlier by the deputy commissioner.
At least one house was dismantled with the help of an excavator today at Sechü Zubza in the presence of SDO (C) and staff, OC Sechü Zubza Police station and other police personnel. There are still some more houses left to be dismantled within the jurisdiction of Sechü Zubza, the SDO (C) informed.
It was reported that some house owners arrived at the right time to seek for a few more days. Their request was granted, but with the condition that they will do the dismantling process before January 26. In the failure to do so, their houses will be destroyed within the first hour on January 27 itself, the SDO (C) informed.
The WAPO building at Sechü Zubza is also under the list of compensated houses, which is yet to be dismantled, the SDO (C) informed. The inclusion of some areas of the Assam Rifles camp and part of the CRPF camp at Sechü Zubza also remains as a big hurdle for the earth cutting to be done within the village jurisdiction.
At Peducha, all the compensated private houses have been cleared. However, it is likely to take a little longer for the police check gate and its adjoining areas.
The SDO (C) informed that new buildings should be built first to accommodate the police and forest department personnel. And to come up with that, it is likely to take time, she said.
