
Dimapur, Sep. 29 (EMN): As part of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav,’ the Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) organised an awareness workshop on waste segregation for ward sanitation committee members in its conference hall on September 29 on the slogan ‘Kachra Alag Karo Amrit Diwas.’
Resource persons namely Zakiekhotuo Kiso, KMC office secretary, spoke on ‘waste segregation,’ while Keduvi Zhotso, advocate-cum-panel lawyer of KDLSA, spoke on ‘Duties and responsibilities of local authorities and village panchayat of census towns and urban agglomerations - under solid waste management rules 2016,’ and Asenla Walling, advocate-cum-panel lawyer of KDLSA, spoke on ‘Criteria and actions to be taken for solid waste management in the hilly areas under solid waste management rules 2016.’
A DIPR report stated that KMC administrator, T Lanusenla Longkumer, who chaired the programme, informed that KMC would be organising different activities such as awareness workshop for community as well as for pay and use toilet caretakers, felicitation of waste entrepreneurs and sanitation workers etc., till October 2 as part of AKAM.
