Dimapur, June 18 (EMN): Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) conducted a joint meeting of various service provider groups such as vegetable vendor, street vendor, barber, cobbler and newspaper vendor at KMC office on June 18 under the chairmanship of KMC administrator, Kuovi Meyase.
Addressing the gathering of more than two hundred people, Meyase stated that KMC has been given the responsibility of planning the Smart City project for Kohima. He, therefore, sought the cooperation from all the groups so that the vision for Kohima Smart city becomes a success. He further interacted with all the groups and assured to look into their problems.
SBI Kohima officials V Metha and Imtitoshi explained the procedures for opening account, joining insurance and pension scheme and all benefits associated with the schemes. Representative from Urban Development stated that in the near future all service providers would have to be in possession of Identity Card to conduct their daily business.
He further informed that the project would implemented by Urban Development.
Raja Sainik Board representative, Joseph Kez, explained on the advantages of opening bank account and insurance schemes. He encouraged all to come forward and take the support of Rajya Sainik Board in this regard.
It may be mentioned that the State Governor, PB Acharya, had emphasised on the need of giving adequate importance towards the welfare and uplift of the service provider groups who belonged to weaker section of society.
