- KOHIMA — Kohima
Municipal Council (KMC) on Thursday presented the annual ‘best and cleanest’
award to several wards and shops in Kohima coinciding with a Pre-Christmas
celebration at its office.
- The cleanest ward awards 2024 were conferred to Ward No. 9
(Midlane) for securing 34 points, Ward No. 16 (New Ministers’ Hill/ Lerie/ NST/
and Dairy Farm with 32 points and Ward No. 10 (Hospital and Officers’ Hill)
with 31 points.
- The cleanest shop awards were given to KS Florist, Daklane
with 22 points, Kiwi Mar, Sepfuzou Colony and United Traders, High School with
21 points each.
- The award for cleanest wards were given based on general
cleanliness, social work, sanitation fee, maintenance of sanitation vehicles,
meeting attendance, innovative ideas, implementation of government projects and
decorations.
- For the cleanest shop awards, points are given based on
cleanliness, waste bin, proper lightings and signboards, clean surroundings.
- The cleanest and best wards received INR 50000 (first), INR
30000 (second) and INR 20,000 (third) along with running trophies and
certificates. The cleanest shop award recipients got one year trade license
concession and certificate for first, six months trade license concession and
certificate for second, and three months trade license concession and
certificate for the third.
- Neikhozo Suokhrie, chairperson of KMC, said the awards aims
at bringing positive inspiration for the ward to keep progressing towards the
goal of achieving the clean surrounding.
- Pastor of Upper Naga Bazaar Baptist Church, Ruokuowhelie
Pienyu, delivered message during the programme and CEO of KMC, T Lanusenla
Longkumer, pronounced vote of thanks.
